About Vikalpa

Vikalpa is CPA’s second citizen journalism initiative. It aims to build on the success of Groundviews by providing content in Sinhala and Tamil that explore facets of democracy and governance in Sri Lanka.

Guiding principles
Our idea of citizen journalism, and content herein, adheres to that which is outlined here.

Our vision
To lead, by example, the creation of citizen journalism in Sri Lanka in all three languages, so as to enable progressive discussions on Sri Lanka’s future.

Sustainability and relevance
Vikapla is registered for five years with unlimited storage. The basic user interface and backend database of the website is powerful enough to handle an exponential increase in content over the next 4 years.

Content will be produced by CSO / NGO / CBO networks and individual authors around the island on an on-going basis.

Vikalpa is supported by the generous support of UNESCO and International Media Support.
